Dominique stepped confidently into her dorm, shutting the door behind her companion, Mark. She had been in the dorm for a year now, so everything was already set up. She placed her guitar case between a black-clad bed and the wall, a small notch which served as the the perfect space. She turned around, standing in the middle of the cluttered area, and put her thumbs in the front pockets of her pants. Looking around the room, she noted that whoever her roommate was, hadn't come yet. Snapping her ring finger suddenly, she mumbled to herself, "Oh yeah!" Taking a large step to the end of the cramped room, she opened a messy desk drawer and pulled out a black iPod. It was scratched, and obviously one of the first versions. She put it in the back pocket of her slacks, not giving it another thought. Obviously she kept a lot of stuff back there. She looked to Mark, raising her eyebrows and saying, "Well, I guess we're ready to go then?"

Mark raised an eyebrow as he looked around the cluttered, but strangely intruiging room, "Not a bad place," he comented, pulling a black hat out of his back pocket and placing it upon his head, "Not too far from mine," he continued a small smile on his lips the whole time, as he turned and leaned on the still closed door. "But before we go," he said with a raised brow, keeping one hand in his pocket the whole time, "You seem to be pretty trusting. For all you know, I could be a rapist," he chuckled.

She raised a thin eyebrow, giving him a quizical look. "I have this way of knowing things. And I also hate people who lie," she declared, pausing before she continued, "But if you were, you'd deeply regret taking a step closer." She gave him one last hard look, her passionate eyes boring into his very soul. She didn't pause before brushing past him, opening the door and taking a few steps into the hallway.

Rex walked through the hallway, looking left and right at each passing room. He suddenly spotted Dominique, and jogged until he was only a few feet away. Hugging her from behind, he made his presence known. "Hey there, stranger," he teased affectionately. They were close; not best-friend close, but they had been close friends since before anyone could remember. He noticed the tough looking student accompanying her, and let go of his cousin. Taking a step forward, he addressed Mark. "Who's this? Is this guy bothering you, Eek?" he said, sizing up the sophomore. Sure, he wasn't competition [They're related, remember?], but Rex felt a natural need to protect her from any inconsiderate jerks. Especially after that last guy...

Mark followed after her with a small smile, which quickly dissaperated into a small grin as a young freshman threatened him. He quirked a brow and crossed his arms, "Name's Mark actually," he said and took a defiant step forward, "What do you plan on doing, exactly?" he asked, looking over the smaller male. Mark wasn't one to back down from anything, even if it was done in a good mood.

Dominique was surprised at her beloved cousin's sudden appearance, though she barely flinched. She grinned good-humoredly and said casually in welcome, "Hey, Rex," as if nothing had happened. Her grin toned down a few notches as she saw the two males examine each other. She looked on with interest as she watched the two, to put it mildly, get to know each other.
"Alright, Mark," Rex kept his stand, just inches away from the teen in front of him, "Maybe you're deaf, or you're just avoiding the question: Are you bothering my cousin?" Though he was a good amount of inches shorter, he held his fixed gaze. It was obvious he would have the harsher punishment if things came around, but he'd been through a fight or two, and could leave a substantial mark of his own. His heated brown eyes, usually full of humor, reflected the desire for a dispute of some sort. His mind was sharp and his instincts alert; after a full day of sleeping in the backseat of a car, he was bound to be wide awake.

Mark rolled his eyes and side stepped the smaller boy, deciding that he'd anger him more by ignoring him, which pleased him at the moment. Having Rex behind him, Mark looked to Dominuiqe, "Where were we?" he asked with a small teasing smile. "Oh right," he said, motioning with his head down the hall, "We were about to leave."

Dominique didn't like what was going on between the two guys, but she wasn't going to say anything. Mark had made a wise choice in just avoiding Rex; school hadn't even started yet, and he was already getting in trouble. She sighed, and said, "Yeah. Let's go." She started down the hall somewhat reluctantly, and turned her head to add quickly, "I'll meet you are eight."
DOMINIQUE: TO: You name it, Crim.
Though Rex was aggrivated at Mark's response, he quickly let it go mentally. There was no reason to get into a fist fight over nothing...just yet. He gave Mark one last stare, his expression grim, before he watched the pair go. Rex gave a nod in response to Dominique's decleration, and turned to leave, walking slowly down the hall with his hands in his pockets as if nothing had happened.
REX: TO: ...er, not sure yet.

Mark shrugged off the smaller student, figuring that if he was lucky enough to have a sibling, he would react the same way. Placing a thumb in his pocket, he waited for Dominique to walk beside him before he spoke, "Nice family," he mumbled, giving her a small grin, and motioning back with his head. "You're brother?" he asked, then remembered what she'd said about guitar practice with her cousin, "Oh right, cousin," he responded before she had a chance to correct him. Deciding to change the subject he looked ahead to the stairs leading to the lobby of the dorm rooms. Suddenly, he stopped and held out a hand for her to halt as well, "Why don't we head out to the beach?" he asked, looking at her, "It's a gread day outside.

Glad that the subject of Rex was dropped, she nodded and replied, "Yeah, that sounds great." The beach was starting to sound inviting, and she was all too willing to go outside and get some fresh air. She flicked her head to the side, shaking the dyed bangs out of her eyes unconsciously. Stunning... she thought as mindfully she admired Mark's grey-green eyes. Dominique walked alongside him, looking from his face to her feet, and back up to those they passed. There were many familiar faces, but also many she had never seen before. Her concentration flickered back to last year; it had been so innocent, so fun. She was so absorbed in her thoughts, she didn't realize how closely she walked next to Mark, her shoulder brushing against his tanned arm.

Mark was aware of all of his surroundings as they walked back to her room. Especially the way she subtly brushed against him as they strolled closely to one another. Dominique had a beauty that was hard not to notice, and as they made their way back, he caught himself stealing small glances to the girl. He knew nothing about her, neither she about him, perhaps she would be the kind of girl that liked to know guys before starting anything. Deep in thought as they passed the 6th door, he almost walked passed hers as well, but caught himself and leaned against the wall cooly, "Should I meet you back here?"

[Sorry it's taken me so long to reply. School and stuff's been really busy.
But, er...they're heading towards the beach, remember? It's not eight o'clock yet.]
